About the Camp
The GCSU Bobcat Rookie Camp is for the beginning baseball player (Ages 5-8) who aspires to play at a higher level. Rookie campers will be exposed to the basic fundamentals of throwing, fielding and hitting. Our camp will offer different coaching techniques and drills for the player to take home and share with his parents and youth coaches. The Bobcat staff will create a fun learning environment for all to enjoy and better prepare our campers for Day Camp when they turn nine.
Rookie camp has limited enrollment to ensure continual instruction for all participants. Each session will run from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, and will include:
- Drill work in throwing, fielding and hitting
- Fun games to reinforce skills
- Base running drills including sliding competition
- Scrimmage games
The camp is held at the GCSU Peeler Athletic Complex, the location of John Kurtz Field. This beautiful baseball facility provides the campers with a tremendous working environment and a great baseball experience.
Rules and Regulations
Campers will be restricted to designated areas and asked to follow various procedures at all times. Each camp participant is expected to bring his own glove, cap, baseball shoes, bag, and sunscreen.
For the safety and enjoyment of all players, camp regulations must be adhered to at all times. Failure to follow these procedures will result in dismissal without refund.
