About the Camp
Camp Director John Carrick is always on the look-out for some future Bobcats and Lady Bobcats! This camp is a great chance to get a head start and learn the fundamentals of the game from the coaches themselves. The GCSU Pee Wee Camp has grown larger in each of its first fifteen seasons, and we are working to make it even bigger and better this year.
All sessions will be held in the air-conditioned Centennial Center arena on the Georgia College & State University campus in Milledgeville. Camp begins at 9am and concludes at 4pm each day, and parents are welcome at any time throughout the day. REGISTRATION AND CHECK IN WILL BEGIN AT 8:30am ON MONDAY AT THE CENTENNIAL CENTER.
Coaching and instruction will be given by GCSU players and high school coaches. Players are put into one of two leagues: College League for 6-to-8 year olds, and Pro League for 9-10 year olds.
Lunch will be served in the campus dining hall, and is included in the camp price. Fruit breaks will be provided each morning, and an ice cream bar will be provided for parents and campers on Friday afternoon. In addition, each camper will receive a free t-shirt and Bobcat Basketball.
Come out, join the fun, and learn a lot about basketball, too!

Camp Director John Carrick
Camp Director John Carrick has nearly 30 years of experience with summer hoops camps, and has run the Pee Wee Camp since its inception. Since taking over as head women's basketball coach at GC&SU in 1983, Coach Carrick has built a consistently strong program, recording eighteen winning seasons, eight twenty-win seasons, six NCAA Tournament appearances, two regular season Peach Belt Conference titles, three PBC tournament championships, and more than 400 career victories.
Carrick started his coaching career at Putnam County High School in Eatonton, Georgia, where he coached football, baseball, and girls basketball. In 1982, he took a perennial loser and led them to a 29-0 record and a Class AA State Title. He was named the Class AA Coach-of-the Year and was selected as the Macon Telegraph "Middle Georgia Prep All-Sports Coach of the Year". In 1983, Carrick came back to his alma mater to help build a winning tradition at GC&SU.
Carrick earned a bachelor's degree in Physical Education in 1974 and a master's degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation in 1976, both from GC&SU. He competed in soccer and tennis, and was named GCSU Male-Athlete-of-the-Year in 1974.
